Although I am guilty for being a slight shopoholic, I think shoes are my major weakness. I love the Women’s shoes at Kurt Geiger Summer Shoes KG style, especially their spring/summer collection. I bought a lovely pair of yellow KG shoes featured below, which I wore when I attended London fashion weekend. These look great as they have a delicate ankle strap with pretty blue crystal studs and the heel is not too high. Mostly, I love the variety which can be found at KG, they offer an array of shoes from flats to wedges to high heels to really high heels! Don’t forget to check out their sale currently on! The next pair of KG shoes on my list are the purple gloria wedges. Be sure to take a look and let me know what your next KG buy will be?

Textiles and Fashion- Identities

I thought I would share with you all a textiles project I have just finished with the ECA (Edinburgh College of Art). I couldn’t have been happier to play around with textiles and learn what materials work, what materials don’t and those which break your sewing machine… The project was based on the deconstruction and manipulation of textiles. To begin with we were just given the task of playing around with different medium, sewing plastic, paper, copper, basically anything which will run through the machine. We were to take pictures, and make a sketch book of things which interest us, this was to help us develop a theme.

My awesome sewing machine, which I could spend hours on. And yes it is purple!!

I guess for me it all began with a dress, an Alexander McQueen dress and a fascination with lace.

This Alexander McQueen collection from AW11 had a distinct theme of black swan meets white, and thus my theme of identities was established.

With the winter weather finally leaving us, its time to celebrate the warmer climate. Time to lose the tights!! I was wondering when this was going to be acceptable, i’ve decided now is the time and I couldn’t be happier. These are some snaps from the highlands, enjoying the warm air even while the sun goes down. Love this green dress from Topshop, it hangs loosely and comes to just the right length, just above the knee. I paired this with a white 3 quarter length top with ankle socks and boots. With chunky jewellery being a key item in any outfit, I chose this tribal necklace to add a little extra. What’s your favourite look for this spring?

London Fashion Weekend

London Fashion weekend is a fashion bloggers dream. With everyone dressing to impress and rooms filled with designer clothing and fantastic discount rates… what more could you ask for… Well, I can tell you there is more! A catwalk show featuring one of our favourite designers, Holly Fulton, displaying some beautiful prints and colours for SS12. The catwalk was presented by Zoe Hardman, featuring tips from Toni and Guy on the latest hair styles and Elizabeth Arden with the new lipstick colours for Spring. A special interview took place on the catwalk with Hilary Alexander, discussing her favourite parts of London Fashion Week, particularly mentioning Stella McCartney’s show which featured Alexa Chung being hypnotized and levitating above razor sharp swords. Hilary exclaims it’s no longer just about the fashion, but about performance art, and really giving guests a great show. What a great way to really let people remember your collection, giving guests that little bit more. This was made clear with a number of designers who put on a performance. (I will leave that for another post). Back to LFWend, Somerset House was the perfect location to hold this grand event, hours passed without noticing, with so much to see, this was definitely a weekend to remember!

Highlights from New York Fashion Week

While many of us have been working hard at our jobs and spending our lunch breaks scouring the internet for our next ‘must have’ item, all the excitement of New York Fashion week has been taking place across the pond. One of the lines people were most excited to see is that of Victoria Beckhams, Victoria. Her A/W collection was filled with collars and narrow skirts with panelling, featuring a narrow line, with most pieces around knee length.

The British designer Jenny Packham, wowed her audience with the most amazing gowns, which looked like they had just stepped out of a black and white film from the 1940’s. This collection is simply Glamorous .

Another collection to inspire for A/W is that of Rebecca Minkoff, this collection is fun and ready to wear.

Art Appreciation

I cant help but blog about the lovely art work by Cate Parr. Her Fashion illustration is something quite unique and extremely eye-catching. Her style, instead of concentrating on exact detailing, is much different to others. Parr concentrates more on the colour and using it to put emphasis on dark and light tones, giving us a beautiful array of dreamy texture. These paintings would be a great addition to anyones wall, each one releasing a sense of excitement and freedom.

Chanel SS12 Collection

Starting with the one and only, Chanel. For me this collection was stunning and well executed onto the catwalk, although many seemed a little perplexed with the theme, confusing it with an underwater- winter land, which for a SS12 collection seems a little askew . To me, it exuberates everything that is Chanel, changing the most common of things into something a little more luxurious.

The theme beautifully flowed throughout the collection; highlighting the soft neutral tones, eye catching opal scales and pearl belts.

As if the collection wasn’t enough,  Chanel ended with Florence Welch from the extremely popular Florence and the machine, singing in a beautiful full length Chanel gown. Wow!
